Thomas Edison Invention

  • Was Thomas Edison's favorite invention.
  • His invention was completed on April 12, 1877 but was not patented until December 24, 1877.
  •  The phonograph was practically an early version of a tape recorder. You could speak into the horn part and and the vibrations from his voice were indented onto a cylinder by a recording needle, in a vertical groove pattern. This could then be played back to a person. 
  • The first thing he recorded on the phonograph was "Mary had a Little Lamb".
  • It effected the common man because the telephone was made from this machine being improved by Alexander Graham Bell and telephones made communication easier for everyone.
